Port Blair, Oct. 13: The general public and Government Departments have been informed that power supply will remain suspended at Sippighat, Nayasahar and Guptapara on Oct. 14 from 8 am to 5 pm in connection with cutting of trees at Nayasahar.

Port Blair, Oct. 13: All concerned have been informed that due to urgent maintenance activity at A & N State Data Centre, the applications hosted in A & N State Data Centre (having domain andaman.gov.in) will not be accessible on 14.10.2023 from 10 am to 6 pm.

Port Blair, Oct. 12:  On 04/10/2023, on the basis of a credible information, a joint team of PS Central Crime Station and Narcotics Cell of CID Unit in a significant breakthrough successfully recovered 2.095 Kgs of Marijuana from the possession of the accused Mohd. Shabib @ Guddu, 34 yrs R/o Chandini Chowk, Shadipur.

On investigation, it was found that the seized ganja was transported through postal services with the assistance of their staff namely S.A.Karthick, M.T.S R/o Shadipur and D.Wilson David Raj, DRM R/o Shadipur. On getting sufficient evidence, both the staff were arrested and put under sustained interrogation.

Port Blair, Oct. 12: The Karen Community of Mayabunder led by the Andaman Karen Youth Club (AKYC) is all set to revive their long forgotten sport ‘Sepak Takraw’. A grand event has been planned for 24th Oct. 2023 at Karmatang 10 Ground, Mayabunder.

Sepak Takraw, often called "kick volleyball," is a dynamic sport that combines elements of soccer and volleyball. Players use their feet, knees, head, and chest to propel a rattan ball over the net, showcasing incredible agility and acrobatics in a thrilling display of skill and teamwork. As of now this sport is played only in North East of mainland India.

Port Blair, Oct. 12: CPI (M) has demanded immediate revival of the Red Oil Palm Plantation of the erstwhile Forest & Plantation Development Corporation at Little Andaman in order to provide jobs to the hundreds of unemployed local youths of Little Andaman and for the all-round development of the area.  Addressing an election meeting at Hut Bay Bazar on 11th October, 2023 in support of the CPI (M) candidates of Pradhan in Hut Bay and Netaji Nagar Gram Panchayats, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, State Organising Committee came down heavily on the BJP government at the centre and A & N Administration for keeping the 1593 hactres of red oil plam plantation in Little Andaman unattended since 2017.
