Port Blair, Sept. 16: A three-day international conference ‘ANGAN 2022’ (Augmenting Nature by Green Affordable New-habitat) ‘Making the Zero-Carbon Transition in Buildings’ organized by BEE from September 14 to 16 at Hotel Ashok, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi was inaugurated by Shri Alok Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Power. The winners of the BEE’s 1st National Energy Efficiency Roadmap for Movement towards Affordable and Natural habitat (NEERMAN) Awards were felicitated during the award function which was held on Sept.15. These awards are institutionalized with the objective to acknowledge and encourage exemplary building designs complying with BEE’s Eco-Niwas Samhita (ENS) and Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC).

Port Blair, Sept. 16: The Hon’ble Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will be arriving on a visit to these Islands tomorrow (Sept. 17). Soon after arrival, the Minister will visit Calicut Gram Panchayat during which he will visit ‘Amrit Sarovar’ site, IHHL, organic waste compost and interact with the beneficiaries. Thereafter, the Minister will visit Solid Waste Management Cluster at Beodnabad and interact with the PRIs.

Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to remove all old, discarded and unseaworthy small, medium and large boats from Phoenix Bay Jetty seashore area and surroundings as well as Junglighat Jetty area.

Port Blair, Sept. 16: Working towards its commitment to make the A&N Islands drug-free, N&MA District Police is conducting regular raids. Acting on credible information on 15/09/2022, a team headed by SHO PS Billiground SI Madhab Haldar and I/C OP Betapur SI Sushanta Debnath along with other staff members conducted raid and recovered 1.60 Kgs of illicit ganja from the possession of a person namely Kishor Halder @ Manik S/o Shri. Kiron Halder (27) Yrs R/o Pinaki Nagar, Ward No-2, permanent residence of Curtburt Bay. Accordingly illicit ganja was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot after observing all legal formalities and a case has been registered.
