Port Blair, March 28: The awareness series on Dugong and nature conservation by the CAMPA – Dugong Project, Wildlife Institute of India in association with Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi and 4 Seasons for the children of Child Care Institutions continued at Bageecha, Port Blair.

The programme commenced with the children of Love Children’s Home followed by children from Pranab Kanya Sangha and Capston on day two and day three. During the series, children were made aware of Dogong, the state animal of A&N Islands and the kinds of threat they face. Children were taught about the basic difference between marine mammals and were made to understand how vulnerable the Dugongs are considering the threat from humans.

Krishna, HC/2903 Y Lazar, PC/916 Pradeep Singh, PC/1197 Manojeet Gharami, PC/20 Monica, PC/1630 Solomie, PC(D)/2737 C H Prakash Rao & CT/775 Finlayson of PS Car Nicobar at various locations within Tamaloo village. The operation was conducted with precision and thoroughness to combat illicit activities related to liquor.

Rangat, March 28: As part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program (SVEEP) activities and with a goal to build a truly participative democracy in India by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote in the upcoming General Election to LokSabha, 2024, a Women Marathon was organized yesterday at Rangat. Approximately, 50 women from various Government Departments/SHGs/Anganwadi Workers & Villagers participated in the marathon.

Port Blair, March 28: Nicobar District Police has successfully recovered 07 lost mobile handsets and restored them to their rightful owners. Among these, 05 mobile handsets were recovered by the dedicated team of PS Car Nicobar while 02 mobile handsets were recovered by the team of PS Campbell Bay. This accomplishment underscores the unwavering commitment and diligence of Andaman & Nicobar Police in safeguarding community interests.

Port Blair, March 28: In connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024, an awareness program for maximum participation in Election was organized by the SVEEP team in the Lecture Hall of ANIIMS today under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activity.

Addressing the students, Shri Wairokpam Punshiba Singh, IAS, Nodal Officer for SVEEP informed that SVEEP is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. It is a multi-intervention programme that reaches out through different modes and media to educate citizens, electors, and voters about the electoral process in order to increase their awareness and promote their informed participation.
