Port Blair, Jan 19: There has been surge in positive cases of COVID -19 in South Andaman District in the recent times.

In order to ensure compliance to the containment measures of isolation and social distancing in the South Andaman District to control any surge of the cases of COVID-19-Variant of Concern (VoC), “OMICRON” Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, District Magistrate, South Andaman Districthas issued home quarantine order for passengers arriving at Little Andaman from Port Blair.

Port Blair, Jan 19: Various tourism associations of Andaman & Nicobar Islands have recently met to discuss the problems that have arisen after the District Administration came out with Order No. 30, closing all tourist spots in the islands. The associations include Andaman Island Scuba Diving Association, Havelock Boat Operator Association, Island Marine Life Boat Association, Baratang Tourist Fiber Boat Owners Association and Havelock Paryatak Seva Sangh. The meeting decided to brief the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration about the circumstances that have arisen after the Order was issued and to request the CS regarding considering re-considering the Order in the interest of tourism stakeholders.

Port Blair, Jan 19: State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, A&N Islands, Shri Ajoy Bairagi has raised concerns of Anganwadi workers before the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration. He highlighted the issue of Non Payment of Honorarium on time resulting in non-proper supply of nutrition supplements to children. He also highlighted a very important issue that due to non-payment of rent of Anganwadi Centre leading to many Centers being on the verge to close down. Bairagi emphasized the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for POSHAN to avoid children suffer with malnutrition and called for immediate attention of the concerned authorities to resolve the issue on time.

Port Blair, Jan 19: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,02,225 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 18,691 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 3517.
