I am happy to know that the Department of Environment & Forests, Andaman and Nicobar Islands will be observing the ‘International Day of Forests’ on 21st March, 2025 in these Islands along with rest of the country, and world on the theme "Forests and Food". The day emphasizes the crucial role of forests in food security, nutrition, and livelihoods, with a call to initiate action to harness technological innovations to address deforestation and climate change.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 20: The Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs shall be conducting the Annual Physical Verification of all its Godowns/PDCs located in different parts of the UT in the last week of March, 2025. The general public and all stakeholders have been informed that all transactions shall be kept suspended during the course of Annual Physical Verification w.e.f 25th March, 2025 to 31st March, 2025.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 20: Zoological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre is conducting a One-day workshop on “Island Ecosystem: Forests, Wildlife and Agroforestry” under the Theme “Forests and Foods” as part of celebration of International Day of Forests on 21st March 2025. 

This workshop will be attended by 70 lecturers, teachers, students and forest officials from South Andaman. The one workshop includes class rooms teaching on Island Ecosystem: Forests, Wildlife and Agroforestry. 

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 20: Provisional merit list of eligible candidates for contractual engagement under Samagra Shiksha, UT Mission Authority, A & N Islands against vacancy notification published on 5th  January 2025 for various posts (Block Resource Person, Cluster Resource Person, Part Time Instructor, Special Educator, Internal Audit Officer, Accountant, MIS Coordinator, Data Entry Operator, IT Personnel & Multi-Tasking Staff) will be displayed on 22nd  March 2025, at 3 pm at the concerned Block Project Offices for inviting claims & objections. The candidates have been directed to submit claims & objections, if any, with the concerned Block Project Officer from 24th to 26th March.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 20: The 38th convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held on 05th March, 2025. Out of the 951 eligible students, nearly 580 students were not collected his/her original degree/diploma certificate. Students who have paid the requisite convocation fee of Rs.600/- are advised to collect their original degree certificate from the IGNOU, Regional Centre, Port Blair during its working hours. The students who have not applied for convocation earlier are also advised to submit the fee through online mode on https://onlineservices.ignou.ac.in/idms/ immediately to collect the degree certificate.
