Port Blair, March 18: The District Child Protection Unit, South Andaman under District Administration conducted an awareness program on Adoption and other Non- Institutional Care Program under Integrated Child Protection Scheme at Brindaban Panchayat Bhavan. The program was initiated with an address by District Child Protection Officer, South Andaman highlighting the functions of District Child Protection Unit.

Port Blair, March 18: Shri Kanta Rao serving as Assistant Director (Sports) in the A&N Administration breathed his last today while on his way to the hospital few minutes ago. Late Kanta Rao was suffering from Jaw Cancer since past couple of years and was under Chemotherapy at Apollo Hospitals Chennai.

Port Blair, March 17: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has written to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration requesting him to re-schedule the existing convoy timings for movement of vehicles on Andaman Trunk Road (Jarawa Reserve Area) to start the convoys at 6.30 AM and 2.30 PM from both sides (Jirkatang to Middle Strait and Middle Strait to Jirkatang respectively). The MP said that the re-scheduling of convoys may be done for the convenience of peoples travelling from North & Middle Andaman for their return journey. This will also facilitate for supply of essential goods to N&M Andaman district by the private transporters, the MP said.

Port Blair, March 17: Nowadays cross any petrol pump in Port Blair and you will be welcomed by a Kilometer long Beeline of two-wheelers and four-wheelers alike. This congested scene is not something born out of necessity or an economic calamity, just a rumour and that was it. The gullible residents of our islands let a simple rumour with unknown origin sit heavy on them as well as administration. Since then, it’s been two days and the petrol pump staffs haven’t got even a single moment to take a calm breath. These disturbingly long lines are seen from as early as 6:00 in the morning to 8:30 till evening.

Port Blair, March 17: Ten-year-long suffering to get a regular tap water connection has come to an end for John Bhengra, a beneficiary of Jal Jeevan Mission. Mr. John Bhengra, a resident of Bimblitan Village under Gram Panchayat Sippighat, has appreciated the Directorate of RD, PRIs, and ULBs for their efforts to provide tap connection at his house wherein the struggle of ten members have been mitigated with the regular water supply.
