Port Blair, May 11: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Gol is implementing the Central Sector Scheme of ‘Free coaching for SC and OBC students’. The objective of the scheme is to provide coaching of good quality for economically disadvantages Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) candidates to enable them appear in competitive examinations for obtaining appropriate jobs in Public/Private Sector and/or for securing admissions in reputed technical and professional higher education institutions.

ERSS is a Unified Andaman Wide Response System Accessible through Single Number ‘112’
Port Blair, May 10: The government of India initiative to integrate emergency helplines into a single helpline has resulted in the rolling out of 112 number. ERSS is a unified, Andaman-wide response system, accessible through the single number 112, providing immediate assistance from agencies such as Police (100), Fire (101), Health (102) and Disaster Management.
Any citizen in distress can dial 112 from their phone, press the power button thrice on any smartphone, or long-press the “5” or “9” key on a regular phone to activate a panic call to the dedicated DIAL 112 Control Room. Additionally, SOS alerts can be sent via email or by using the 112 India mobile app, available for free on Google Play Store and Apple Store.

Port Blair, May 10: Sterilization services are an integral and important aspect of family planning services. The Directorate of Health Services is regularly striving to provide Laparoscopic sterilization services in different part of A&N Islands. In line with this, a Fixed Day Family Planning Laparoscopic Sterilization Service was provided by the Directorate of Health Services in association with Union Territory Health Mission at Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Swaraj Dweep from May 6 to 9, 2024.
