Port Blair, May 22: All concerned have been informed that the Election Commission of India has notified the period between 7 am on 19th April, 2024 (Friday) and 6.30 pm on 1st June, 2024 (Saturday) as the period during which conducting and publishing or publicising exit poll by means of the print or electronic media or dissemination in manner whatsoever, the result of any exit poll in connection with the General Elections-2024, shall be prohibited.  

Port Blair, May 11: The State Child Protection Society under Directorate (Social Welfare), is advocating for the integration of life skill education programs in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) to empower and educate children under their care.

A recent life skill education awareness program held at Capstone CCI Home underscored the vital role of such initiatives in enhancing the capabilities of children. Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), emphasized the significance of life skills and called for the continuous implementation of similar programs at all CCIs. He stressed the importance of raising awareness among children and facilitating their active participation in programs aimed at fostering positive impacts.

Mayabunder, May 12: All Gram Panchayats under Mayabunder Tehsil organized cleanliness drive today. Around 250 participants actively participated including AC(HQ)/CEO (ZP, N&MA), Block Development Officer Mayabunder, Pradhans, PRI members, Officers/Officials & general public and collected good amount of wastes/garbage from various places such as sea beaches, market areas, schools, Anganwadi Centres and road side areas. The Officials of Zilla Parishad N&MA, Mayabunder have also carried out the cleanliness drive in and around the Zilla Parishad Office campus.

Port Blair, May 12: Rotary Club of Port Blair today donated "Children's Play Park Equipment" near Panighat jetty, in the morning hours. Miss. Mariyam Bibi Ex-Adyakash Zilla Parishad, Smti Padmavati, Pramukh Ferrargunj, Smti Rasheeda Bibi, Pradhan Hope Town, Shri Laxmi Narayan Samiti member Hope Town, PP Rtn Dinakaran, Rtn Nalin Gulecha, PP Rtn Diwakar Moorthy, PP President and present Secretary Rtn Dr. Dinesh, Amar Gupta, President Rotary Club of Port Blair were present on the occasion.

Port Blair, May 12: The first round of training to Counting Supervisors, Micro Observers, Counting Assistants and Counting Staff engaged to assist the Returning Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency in counting of votes for General Election-2024, was held in the DBRAIT auditorium here today. The Counting will take place in JNRM Counting Centre, earmarked for Counting of Votes for the A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency on June 4, 2024.     The Resource Person, Shri Som Naidu, DANICS Retd. while addressing the trainees, apprised them about their important roles & responsibilities during the counting of votes. He said, all the personnel engaged in counting duty have to take the training seriously so that there should not be any problem on the day of Counting on June 4, 2024.
