Bambooflat, April 29: On a recent visit to the Surya Chakra Powerhouse, Dr. Prasant Kumar, Director of Power, accompanied by engineers from the Electricity Department, engaged in a critical dialogue with local community leaders and residents concerning the ongoing power distribution challenges in the region. Among the attendees were Ms. V. K. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member of Bambooflat, the Pradhans of Shorepoint and Nayapuram, Up Pradhans of Bambooflat sectors, Samity members of Hope Town and Bambooflat 2 and local social workers Mr. Gafoor and Mr. Debkumar Badra.

Port Blair, April 29: Two POCSO Cases, FIR No. 66/21 dtd 30/07/2021 U/s 5(m)(n)(l)/6 of POCSO Act 2012 r.w.s 506 IPC and FIR No. 82/21 dtd 09/09/2021 U/s 5(l)/06 of POCSO Act 2012 r.w.s 506 IPC were registered at PS Pahargaon against accused R Muniya Swamy and were investigated by SI Silpi Singha and then SI Gracefield respectively.
On 22/03/2024, Sh. Bhawani Shanker Sharma, Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge –Cum- Special Court (POCSO Act), South Andaman District, Port Blair has delivered a significant judgment in the above cases of PS Pahargaon sentencing the accused R Muniya Swamy to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 50,000/-.

Port Blair, April 29: In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, on 28/04/ 2024, acting on specific intelligence received from a reliable source, a police team comprising Inspector Girish Kumar, SHO, PS Crime & Economic Offence, Head Constable Sanjit Madhu, Sanjay Kujur, along with Constables K. Rajendran and Lilly Grace Lakra of PS Crime & Economic Offence under the supervision of Sh. Lakshay Pandey, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID), conducted a raid in the rented house of Abijit Mahapatra S/o Shri Naba Kumar Mahapatra (31) yrs, Pvt. Worker R/o Shiv Colony, Dollygunj. During the operation, the team seized 2.700 Kgs of Ganja concealed in the living room of rented accommodation of Abijit Mahapatra. Accused was arrested on the spot following the due legal procedure. The raid was conducted under the overall supervision of Shri Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP(CID).
