Port Blair, Jan 16: The Andaman and Nicobar Police marked another historic milestone with the celebration of its 72nd Raising Day, commemorating the illustrious history of the force. This significant occasion recalls the appointment of Mr. Naushirwan Feroz Sauntook, a distinguished IPS Officer, as the First Superintendent of Police for the A&N Islands on January 16, 1953. Since that momentous day, January 16 has been dedicated as the "Police Raising Day" of the Andaman & Nicobar Police.

Port Blair, Jan 16: In a remarkable initiative to bring together the Islanders in celebration, Member of Parliament Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma organized a vibrant Tamizhar Pongal festival in Bathu Basthi, drawing more than 8000 audiences.

The festivities kicked off on Saturday, January 13, 2024, with the Samathuva Pongal Padayal at the Bathu Basthi Parking Place, PBMC.

Port Blair, Jan 16: A meeting of CPI (M) Party members and active functionaries of mass organizations of Port Blair and rural South Andaman was held at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair on 12th January 2024 afternoon in which about 200 people participated. 

Addressing the meeting, Prakash Karat, Polit Bureau Member of CPI (M) said that construction of Ram Mandir has been converted into a state-sponsored project even though the Supreme Court had directed to form a Trust for the purpose. He said that Shankaracharias have refused to be part of the inaugural function of the Ram Temple saying that they have nothing to do there as Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone and performed the pujas as Chief Priest and in the inauguration of the temple also Modi will be undertaking the religious rituals by himself.  Prakash Karat said that as per the Constitution of India, the State should not patronize any particular religion and State should keep away from religion. However, the Ram Mandi inauguration has been converted into a state-sponsored show. He said that nearly 100 top corporate have been invited to Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony as they are all supporting the BJP. 

Port Blair, Jan 16: The Andaman & Nicobar Police is thrilled to announce the recent induction of four Belgian Malinois pups two each in Explosive and Narcotic Trade into its esteemed Canine Unit. These highly skilled and intelligent pups were carefully selected and have been entrusted to the capable hands of the A&N Police personnel who are undergoing Dog Handlers Training at National Training Centre for Dogs (NTCD), ITBP, Panchkula, Haryana, since 11/01/2024.
