Department of AH&VS Launches ‘Water Bowl Campaign’ Across A&N Islands

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 4: The Department of AH&VS launched the “Water Bowl Campaign” simultaneously across multiple locations on April 30. The campaign was rolled out at various Government Primary Schools and key locations including GPS Rajiv Nagar, GPS Jetty Bazar and GPS Campbell Bay. It was also launched simultaneously in Mayabunder at Tugapur and Lal Tikrey under Veterinary Hospital, Webi, and in Sri Vijaya Puram covering the areas of Bathubasti, Command, Haddo, Mini Bay and Garacharma.

This two-week long campaign aims to spread awareness and instil compassion among school children and the general public towards stray animals and birds during the harsh summer months when water sources become extremely scarce. Officials of AH&VS sensitised the students on the importance of providing fresh drinking water to stray animals and motivated them to regularly refill the water bowls placed in their school premises and surrounding areas.

The Department has appealed to all citizens, Panchayats, educational institutions, shopkeepers, market associations, and residents to actively participate in this noble initiative. The Department has urged to place water bowls in your homes, offices, shops, markets, and public places and ensure they are regularly filled with clean and fresh water. Your small act of kindness can make a big difference and help save the lives of many thirsty stray animals and birds during this summer season.

The Water Bowl Campaign will continue for the next two weeks and will be further expanded to more locations across the islands.
