
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 13: Demonstrating its firm commitment to combating drug trafficking and substance abuse in the Islands, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station achieved another significant success by seizing 940 grams of illicit ganja and arresting one accused person during a special operation conducted on 12.05.2026 near Captain Ashim Kumar Bhattacharjee Park, Junglighat, Sri Vijaya Puram.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a dedicated police team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, led by Inspector K. Binoj, SHO, AntiNarcotics Police Station, carried out the operation. The team included SI Manoj Lal, HC Laxman Rao, HC(SG) Ratan Das, PC Raja Rao, PC Tulasi Rao and PC Karuna Kant Pandey.
During the operation, the team intercepted one Manirul Sarder S/o Shri Iman Ali Sardar (34 yrs), Pvt. Labourer, R/o Prem Nagar near Electricity Site Office, Sri Vijaya Puram, who was carrying a trolley bag.
Upon checking his luggage, 940 grams of ganja concealed inside the bag was recovered. The contraband was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot after observing all codal formalities under the NDPS Act, 1985.
Further investigation is in progress to identify the supply chain and apprehend other co-accused persons involved in the case.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of Smt. Suma Madda, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics).
