
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 31: The month-long Summer Holiday Camp–2026 organized by the Science Centre concluded with a colorful valedictory function held at its premises at Goodwill Estate today. Shri Aditya Sangotra, Director of Education, A & N Administration graced the occasion as the chief guest. The chief guest along with other dignitaries inspected various models prepared by the students in disciplines such as Aero Modelling, Creative Science, Ship Building, Model Rocketry, Robotic Science, Fun Biology, Astronomy and Fun Chemistry. He also interacted with the students while observing the exhibits.
Shri Aditya Sangotra distributed the prizes and certificates to the best performers selected on the basis of feedback and performance in each discipline conducted during the camp. Addressing the students, the chief guest emphasized the importance of scientific thinking and curiosity. He said that whenever students observe or undertake any project, the first question that should arise in their minds is “Why?” They should then try to find out “How?” things work and once the reasons behind the why and how are understood, a person develops the mindset of a scientist.
Curiosity, he said, is the key to discovery, innovation, and personal growth. He urged the participants to cultivate a habit of questioning, exploring and seeking knowledge beyond textbooks. He also lauded the staff members of the Science Centre for successfully organizing the holiday camp.
The cultural segment of the programme included a welcome song presented by Kumari Soumili Das on the harmonium. Kumar Shaurya Dharmpal Thakur and Kumari Kayva shared their experiences of the camp, while Kumar Alex Jonathan entertained the audience with musical tunes on the guitar. Kumar PVN Alok amazed the gathering by demonstrating his exceptional talent of identifying images and texts while blindfolded.
The entire programme was compered by student participants Kumari N. Anshara and Kumari Prapti Das. Models prepared by the students were also displayed at the Science Centre for viewing by parents and tourists. Around 125 students participated in the holiday camp. The function concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Anuj Mahto, Chief Mentor attached to the Science Centre.
