
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 8: The Phase-V of the 5-Day Capacity Building Training Programme for Primary School Teachers (PSTs) of the A&N Islands was successfully concluded on 6th June, 2026 at TGCE Auditorium, Sri Vijaya Puram. The programme was organized by the Department of Education, A&N Administration, with the objective of enhancing the professional competencies of PSTs and equipping them with effective pedagogical practices, innovative teaching methodologies, classroom management skills, and learner-centred approaches aimed at improving the quality of school education across the Islands.
Shri Aditya Sangotra, Director of Education, A&N Administration, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he called upon teachers to extend their pedagogical reach through enhanced community participation and to prioritize activity-based learning in classrooms. He emphasized the vital role of teachers in nurturing young minds and fostering a culture of quality education across the Islands.
Dr. Manjulata Rao, Principal, Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), attended the function as the guest of honour. Delivering the welcome address, Smt. Sangeeta Chand, Principal, SIE and Dr. S.R. DIET, Garacharma, informed the gathering that the module-based Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme commenced on 4th May, 2026 and was conducted in five phases, during the summer vacation. A total of 865 PSTs from all the nine educational zones of the A&N Islands participated in the training programme. The programme witnessed active participation from teachers across the Islands. During the valedictory function, participants shared their experiences. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Pavan S. Pyati, HoD In-Service Training Wing, Dr. S.R. DIET.
