Diglipur, June 8: On 06.06.2026, a Fishermen Watch Group meeting was conducted at Talbagan Community Hall by SI Shibendra Halder, SHO, PS Kalighat, to enhance coastal security awareness and maritime vigilance. Around 50 fishermen from Talbagan, Kishorinagar, Paschimsagar, Haren Nallah, and Gopen Nallah attended the programme, along with local Sagar Mitras, the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Paschimsagar, and PMF staff.
During the meeting, fishermen were sensitized on coastal security measures, maritime vigilance, and the need to promptly report any suspicious activities at sea or along the coastline. Participants were also briefed on anti-poaching efforts and the vital role played by fishermen in past successful operations through timely sharing of information.
On the occasion, appreciation certificates along with cash rewards, sanctioned by Police Headquarters, were presented to fishermen in recognition of their valuable contributions towards anti-poaching activities and maritime security.
The fishermen appreciated the initiative and assured their continued cooperation with the North & Middle Andaman District Police in maintaining coastal security and preventing illegal activities at sea.
