
Mayabunder, June 10: The North & Middle Andaman District Police remain steadfast in their dedication to justice, taking prompt and decisive measures against offenders involved in sexual crimes.
In a noteworthy judgment delivered on 10/06/2026, the Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO), N&M Andaman, Mayabunder sentenced the accused to 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment along with fine for the offence committed under section 06 of POCSO Act, 2012, and 07 years of rigorous imprisonment alongwith fine for the offence committed under section 506 IPC in connection with Crime No. 49/2023, registered under the POCSO Act, 2012 at PS Diglipur.
The case pertained to the sexual assault of a minor victim by her neighbour. Acting promptly on the complaint, a case was registered at PS Diglipur and the investigation was entrusted to SI Deepti Minj under the supervision of the then SHO, Inspector Vikash Singh. Through diligent investigation, professionalism, and meticulous collection of evidence, the Investigating Officer successfully established the case before the Hon’ble Court, leading to the conviction of the accused.
