New Delhi, June 11: Hon’ble MP, A&N Islands, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, today met Dr. Satish, Director, CHGS HQ, at New Delhi to pursue the long-pending proposal for the establishment and operationalisation of a CGHS Wellness Centre at Sri Vijaya Puram for the benefit of retired Government employees and pensioners of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.
During the meeting, the Director, CGHS informed the Hon’ble MP that the issue raised by him has already been processed by the CGHS HQ making necessary recommendations for the creation of a CGHS Wellness Centre at Sri Vijaya Puram. Subsequently, Hon’ble MP also further enquired the matter with the Employees Health Scheme Division under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare regarding the status of the proposal received from the CHGS HQ. It was informed that the matter is presently under active consideration of the Ministry for taking an appropriate policy decision on the establishment of a CGHS Centre within the available resources in the Health Department of A&N Administration.
The Hon’ble MP has been consistently taking up the matter with the Health Ministry and UT Administration, considering the genuine difficulties faced by pensioners and retired employees of the Islands in availing quality healthcare facilities. The proposed CGHS Wellness Centre would enable eligible beneficiaries to avail cashless treatment at CGHS-empanelled hospitals across the country in accordance with CGHS norms, thereby providing much-needed healthcare security to thousands of pensioners and their dependents.
The Hon’ble MP expressed satisfaction over the positive progress made in the matter and reiterated the urgent need for expediting the proposal, keeping in view the healthcare requirements and welfare of retired Government employees and pensioners residing in the A & N Islands. He assured that he would continue to vigorously pursue the matter with the Ministry until the CGHS Wellness Centre is sanctioned and made operational in the Islands.
