Sri Vijaya Puram, July 3: Shri Chandra Prakash Goyal, Chairman, High Level Committee, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change & Chairman, Central Empowered Committee (CEC) and Dr. Satya Prakash Yadav, Permanent Member, High Level Committee and Director General, International Big Cat Alliance on visit to A&N Islands for the 5th High Level Committee meeting for sustainable development of Great Nicobar Islands called on Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM, (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency today at Lok Niwas. Detailed discussions were held on the conservation and regulatory framework under the EIA and ICRZ Notifications, diversion of Island Forest cover, compensatory afforestation, non-displacement of tribal communities, and mitigation measures to be implemented during the construction and operational phases of mega strategic and infrastructure projects in A&N Islands with special reference to Great Nicobar Islands.
