Sri Vijaya Puram, July 8: The Directorate of Shipping Services had earlier revised the schedule of the Vehicle Ferry Service on Route No. 1 (Chatham – Dundas Point) with effect from 1st July, 2026, vide Press Release No. M/Afl(Opn)/106/2026/550 dated 25.06.2026, based on the representation received from PRI members.
Thereafter, representations were received from the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Mithakhari & Namunaghar, as well as from the local residents, requesting restoration of the earlier Vehicle Ferry schedule, for convenience of the general public and daily commuters.
The Directorate of Shipping Services has examined the matter in light of the representations received from all stakeholders. After due consideration, and with a view to facilitating the convenience of the general public, it has been decided to withdraw the revised Vehicle Ferry schedule issued vide the above-mentioned Press Release. Accordingly, the Vehicle Ferry schedule that was in force prior to 1st July, 2026, shall be restored with effect from 13.07.2026 onwards.
Passengers and vehicle owners have been requested to take note of the above and plan their travel accordingly. The Directorate of Shipping Services appreciates the cooperation extended by the public and reiterates its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and commuter-friendly ferry services in the Islands.
