State-Level Workshop on Model District Initiative – South Andaman Organised Under ABDM

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 10: The Programme Management Unit (PMU), Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organized the State-Level Inaugural Workshop for the Model District Initiative – South Andaman under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) on 10th July 2026 at Lemon Tree Hotel, Sri Vijaya Puram.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Sachin Shinde, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Health), A&N Administration, as the Chief Guest. The programme was attended by Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman; Dr. H. M. Siddaraju, Director of Health Services; Dr. Mukesh Tripathi, Director, ANIIMS and others.

In his address, Dr. Sachin Shinde, IAS, highlighted the transformative role of ABDM in creating a secure, integrated, and citizen-centric digital health ecosystem. He emphasized that digital health is especially important for the geographically dispersed islands, enabling seamless access to healthcare services and secure exchange of electronic health records. He urged all public and private healthcare providers to actively participate in the implementation of the Mission.

During the inaugural session, the ABDM Newsletter 2025–26 was released by the Chief Guest in the presence of Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, highlighting the key achievements and milestones of ABDM implementation in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 2025–26.

Delivering the keynote address virtually, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Arora, Director, National Health Authority (NHA), emphasized the adoption of ABDM-compliant Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) across public and private healthcare facilities and highlighted the Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS) and the citizen-centric features of the recently launched Arogya Setu 2.0 application.

In his address, Dr. H. M. Siddaraju informed that South Andaman has been selected as the Model District under ABDM, aiming to establish an integrated digital healthcare ecosystem through wider adoption of ABDM-enabled services, thereby improving accessibility, efficiency, and continuity of healthcare.

Dr. P. Lal, State Nodal Officer, ABDM, stressed the importance of active participation by private healthcare providers in building an interoperable digital healthcare ecosystem and expressed confidence that the initiative would accelerate ABDM implementation in South Andaman.

The workshop featured technical sessions by HMIS providers including NIC, C-DAC, Healthray, Prudas, and Marg ERP, along with demonstrations on ABHA, Health Facility Registry (HFR), Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR), ABDM-enabled digital health records, HMIS integration, and other citizen-centric digital health services. The vote of thanks was delivered by Shri R. Vivek, State Project Manager, ABDM.
