
Nancowry, July 15: The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department, Veterinary Dispensary (VD) Kamorta, conducted an awareness programme on stray dog bite prevention and stray dog management at Government Primary School, Bada Enaka, Nancowrie.
The awareness session was conducted by the Senior Veterinary Officer of VD Kamorta. During the programme, students were educated on the do’s and don’ts to be followed when encountering stray dogs and the immediate steps to be taken in the event of a dog bite. Emphasis was laid on avoiding provocation of dogs, maintaining a safe distance from unfamiliar animals, informing elders immediately after any bite or scratch, thoroughly washing the wound with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes, and seeking prompt medical attention without delay.
A total of 22 participants, including students and teachers, attended the programme. The participants actively interacted during the session, raised relevant questions, and showed keen interest in understanding the preventive measures and safety practices.
