Kalighat, July 28: Maintaining its relentless momentum against illegal alcohol operations, a specialized team from the Kalighat Police Station executed a successful raid at Kishorinagar on July 27, 2026. This operation forms part of an intensified, ongoing campaign by the North & Middle Andaman District Police to completely eradicate the manufacture and sale of bootleg liquor in the region. Acting swiftly on actionable intelligence, officers targeted a suspected manufacturing site near a local residence. An initial search yielded 3.6 litres of illicit liquor. Sustained interrogation of the suspect immediately led the team deeper into a forested area behind the property. There, officers uncovered 300 litres of Lehan (fermented wash) hidden inside large drums. The police team destroyed the 300 litres of Lehan on the spot following legal protocols and seized the finished liquor. A case has been registered under the Excise Regulation, and the police are actively pursuing further investigations to uncover deeper links to the network.
