
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 30: As part of the series of Tourism Fairs, Festivals and Events being organized by the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, A&N Administration during 2026–27, the Directorate, in collaboration with the Department of Environment & Forests, will organize a ‘Rainforest Birding Trail’ at Biological Park, Chidiyatapu on 1st August, 2026. The event aims to promote eco-tourism and create awareness about the rich avian diversity and pristine rainforest ecosystem of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore one of the Islands’ premier birding destinations under the guidance of experienced birding experts and resource persons while learning about the endemic and migratory bird species, rainforest ecology, and the importance of biodiversity conservation. On a first-come, first-served basis, the Department will facilitate transportation for 35 registered participants, comprising nature enthusiasts, bird watchers, students, photographers, travel agents, eco-tourism stakeholders and members of the general public. These participants are requested to report at the premises of the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, Sri Vijaya Puram, at 6.45 am sharp on 1st August, 2026, from where transportation will be arranged to the venue. The remaining interested participants are welcome to join the programme by reporting directly at Biological Park, Chidiyatapu, at 7.30 am sharp. The birding trail will commence at 8 am. Participants are advised to wear comfortable outdoor clothing and suitable walking shoes. They are also encouraged to carry binoculars, cameras, drinking water, caps or hats, and other personal essentials required for the nature trail.
The Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism has invited all nature lovers to participate in this enriching experience and contribute towards promoting responsible, sustainable and nature-based tourism in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
