
Mayabunder, Aug. 2: As part of the pre-launch activities for the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan,’ the NSS-My Bharat Units of Mahatma Gandhi Government College (MGGC), Mayabunder, organised a Walkathon today at Mayabunder. The Walkathon commenced from Danapur Junction and culminated at the Mayabunder Bazaar in which around 200 students, along with faculty members and staff, enthusiastically participated.Shri S. Krishna Chaitanya, Additional District Magistrate, North & Middle Andaman flagged off the Walkathon as the chief guest. In his address, the ADM highlighted the importance of abstaining from narcotic drugs and explained the harmful effects of drug addiction on individuals and society. He also administered the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ Pledge to the participants.
The Principal of MGGC, Dr. R. V. R. Murthy also addressed the gathering. At the culmination point at Mayabunder Bazaar, Dr. Priyanka Iqbal from R.P. Hospital, Smt. Suvida from IRC, addressed the students, motivating them to adopt healthy habits and work collectively towards building a drug-free society.
