Mobile Range Squad Detects Illegally Sawn Padauk Timber at Chota Patther Ghum

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 5: Based on information received from reliable source a team of Mobile Squad Range, under South Andaman Forest Division went to Chota Patther Ghum area under Mile Tilak Reserved Forest within the Jurisdiction of Jirkatang Forest Range today and detected 18 pcs of illegally sawn Padauk timber measuring 0.545 Cbm. No offender was traceable in the location. A case on unknown offender has been booked under various sections of the Indian Forest Act, 1927.

Efforts are on to trace the offender with the available leads from the crime spot. South Andaman Forest Division reiterates its appeal to the general public to cooperate in safeguarding natural resources and report any suspicious activities related to illegal forest and wildlife produce on the help line number 03192-255228. Identity of the informants will be kept confidential.
