Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 18: The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, in collaboration with the Department of Education, is going to celebrate National Sports Day (NSD) as a Sports Week on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Hockey Wizard, Major Dhyan Chand, on 29th August, 2026 under the theme ‘Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat,’ built around the three soulful pillars of “Tribute, Play, and move”. In this connection, the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs will organize various sports activities as part of the week-long programme with the objective of promoting sports participation and fostering the spirit of sportsmanship among the participants.
Accordingly, the following sports disciplines will be organized as part of the National Sports Day–2026 Sports Week:
