Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 19: A book on “Distance Education and Open Learning System in India: Higher Education in a Digital Age” authored by Dr. Uday Kumar, Assistant Regional Director was released on Wednesday, 19th August, 2026 at IGNOU, Regional Centre Port Blair, Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The book was released by Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Jacob, Regional Director, IGNOU, RC Port Blair and Dr. R. G. S. Baghel, Coordinator, IGNOU LSC-0201, JNRM Campus, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The book was published by Rajesh Publications, Darya Ganj, New Delhi. In his brief highlight on the book, Dr. Uday Kumar said it was designed in such way that students, researchers and academics will immensely be benefited. The book will also be helpful to persons having interest in Open and Distance Education System.
The author said it took him approximately two years of preparation to come out with the publication. The writing of this book has been a journey of rigorous reading, went to libraries, collecting information and continuous writing. The book contains broad aspects about Distance Education and Open Learning System in India in a Digital Age. According to author in this era of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) it is in the fitness of the purpose for the ODL institutions to integrate technology into all its domains and make sincere efforts towards providing technology enabled online learning or e-learning environments.
