4 Bedded Jarawa Ward Inaugurated at PHC Tugapur

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 19: A 4 bedded Jarawa Ward at PHC Tugapur of Directorate of Health Services was inaugurated by Shri Sushant Padha, Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman, in the presence of Shri Sibananda Bairagi, Pradhan, GP Pahalgaon, Shri Johnson Kerketta, Pradhan, GP Chainpur and HoD’s of various Department recently.

The opening of this dedicated Ward marks an important step toward strengthening the local healthcare system and ensuring equitable access to medical services for the Jarawa community. The Jarawa Ward will also serve as a focal point for community outreach, preventive-care initiatives, and culturally appropriate health education tailored to the needs of the Jarawa people. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the work of the PHC Tugapur staff and heard concerns regarding the Jarawa tribe residing at Louis Inlet Bay.  The Pradhans also commended the doctors and staff of PHC Tugapur for the healthcare services provided to the community.
