
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 20: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, today inaugurated a newly established Operation Theatre (OT) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Amrita Health Centre, Shadipur, Sri Vijayapuram.
The OT and ICU have been established by Amrita Hospital, Kochi, with the objective of strengthening healthcare facilities at the Centre and providing better medical and surgical services to patients visiting the Health Centre.
With the availability of the new OT and ICU, patients will now have access to a wider range of elective surgical procedures, including hernia, appendicitis, gynaecological surgeries, hydrocele, gallbladder-related surgeries, fracture-related procedures and other general surgical interventions. The facility is expected to significantly improve access to quality healthcare and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the Islands for such treatments.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray appreciated Amrita Hospital, Kochi and the team of Amrita Health Centre for taking this important initiative to enhance healthcare facilities in the Islands. He expressed hope that the new facilities would provide timely and quality treatment to patients and benefit the people of Sri Vijayapuram and other parts of the Islands.
Shri Durga Prasad, Centre In-charge, Dr. Omkar Singh, MD (Medicine) and former DHS, Dr. Manish, I/C of IP of the centre, other doctors, paramedical staff and members of the Amrita Health Centre team were present during the inauguration. Distinguished guests and devotees of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi were also present on the occasion.
