AH&VS Conducts Demonstration Programme on Deworming and Vaccination in Commercial Poultry

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 24: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), in collaboration with UT-ATMA under Prothrapur Block, conducted a Demonstration Programme on Deworming and Vaccination in commercial poultry today in the field of Shri K. Komu, Calicut Village.

During the demonstration, detailed information was provided on deworming practices and the method of vaccinating poultry birds. The schedule of vaccination was also explained, and practical demonstration of the vaccination technique was carried out for the benefit of the farmers. A total of 109 Vanaraja chicks (two weeks of age) were distributed as inputs during the programme. The demonstration was conducted by Senior Veterinary Officer, Veterinary Hospital Garacharma, along with Veterinary Compounders. Block Technology Manager (BTM), was also present during the programme.

On the same day, a Veterinary Infertility Camp was conducted at Humfrygunj. A total of six animals were inspected, out of which two animals were treated — one for Post-Parturition Anoestrus and the other for Underdeveloped Genitalia. Deworming medicines, Mineral Mixture and Ovimin Bolus were provided to the animals.

These field-level programmes form part of the Department’s continuous efforts to promote scientific poultry farming practices, improve reproductive health of cattle and provide timely technical support to livestock farmers. The Department of AH&VS remains committed to organising such demonstration and treatment camps for the benefit of the farming community in the Islands.
