Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 25: The two-day training programme on the “ABCD Model for YUVA”, organised under the Gender Inclusion and Equity Initiative of PM-USHA from 24-25th Aug 2026, concluded today at the auditorium of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), Sri Vijaya Puram.
The programme was conducted under the Vidya Shakti Initiative of IIT Madras in collaboration with IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation. Around 350 first-year students from DBRAIT, Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Andaman College (ANCOL), Andaman Law College and Tagore Government College of Education participated in the two-day event. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Siva and Mr. Nagarajan resource persons from IIT Madras Pravartak.
During the valedictory function, Prof. Sanmukh Kaur, Principal, DBRAIT, motivated the participants to continuously develop their skills and cultivate a strong interest in STEM courses. She encouraged the students to make effective use of digital learning resources and pursue their academic and career goals with confidence and curiosity. Prof. PVN Sarma, Principal Andaman Law College graced the occasion as special guest.
The first day of the programme focused on simulations and virtual laboratories in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering. The second day covered the four dimensions of the ABCD Employability Model—Analytical Reasoning, Business Process Awareness, Communication and Data Analytics.
Students from the participating higher educational institutions shared their feedback during the valedictory session. They stated that the programme was highly informative and truly useful, particularly for improving their understanding of STEM concepts, analytical thinking, communication skills, data handling and future employability.
The programme also provided the newly admitted students from different institutions of the Islands an opportunity to interact, collaborate and learn together, while promoting gender-inclusive participation in STEM education and skill-development activities.
Earlier, Dr. Shrabani Mallick, Associate Professor (CSE), Event Convenor welcomed the gathering and set the context for the proceedings. She highlighted the objectives of the programme and the importance of equipping students with relevant STEM, communication and employability skills.
