Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 21: As part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), a community outreach programme was organised at Abbhyuday Complex, Ferrargunj, by the Defence Wives Welfare Association (DWWA), in coordination with INHS Dhanvantari, Base Logistic Office (BLO) and Station Health Organisation (SHO), Sri Vijaya Puram.
The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Chand McCarty, President, DWWA, who interacted with the residents of the complex and encouraged them through personal interaction. As a gesture of care and support, personal hygiene and first-aid kits were distributed to the residents. Washing machine and dryer were also presented to the facility to support the residents in their day-to-day needs.
A multi-specialty medical camp was conducted for the residents, including elderly persons, children and differently abled individuals. Specialist medical services in Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology and Dentistry were provided. The beneficiaries underwent medical evaluation and were provided appropriate medical advice, counselling and guidance for further examination, whenever required.
The children residing in the orphanage were encouraged to explore career opportunities in the Armed Forces, with emphasis on the values of discipline, service, professional growth and contribution to the nation.
