Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 21: Rotary NextGen Club, Port Blair, held its annual installation ceremony for the Rotary Year 2026–27, with Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Secretary, IP&T, as the Chief Guest.
Farhan Jadwet was installed as the new President, succeeding Mandeep Garewal. The new team comprises Shikha Agarwaal as General Secretary and Devang Goel as Treasurer. The outgoing team included Vignesh, Secretary, and Sonu Eppan, Treasurer.
The Rotary International theme for 2026–27, “Create Lasting Impact,” will guide the club’s activities during the year. Farhan said his vision is to focus on initiatives that create sustainable and measurable impact in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with particular emphasis on youth leadership, education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, skill development and community service.
A key priority will be establishing at least one Interact Club in a school and one Rotaract Club in a college, encouraging young people to develop leadership skills and embrace the values of service.
Speaking at the ceremony, Farhan said, “Creating lasting impact means going beyond completing projects. It means creating something that continues to benefit our community even after the project and the Rotary year are over.”
Farhan also highlighted his family’s longstanding association with Rotary. His uncle, Rtn. Yaqub Mohammadi, was the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Port Blair when it was formed in 1982, while his father, Rtn. Mohammed Jadwet, served as President in 1992. His mother, Shehnaz, was a Charter Member and later President of the Inner Wheel Club of Pune.
Describing Rotary as something he had grown up with, Farhan said his presidency represents an opportunity to carry forward this legacy while bringing fresh ideas and energy to the next generation of Rotary service.
The new President called upon members to actively participate, contribute ideas and work collectively to make 2026–27 a year of meaningful service, fellowship and lasting impact.
