Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 22: Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra, Sri Vijaya Puram, jointly observed the commencement of Hindi Pakhwada 2026 on September 22, 2026, in keeping with the tradition of celebrating the fortnight every year to promote and encourage the wider use of Hindi in official communication.
The inaugural ceremony of Hindi Fortnight 2026 was held at 11:00 a.m. in the Conference Hall of Akashvani. The programme was graced by Padma Shree Awardee, Shri Naresh Chander Lall, renowned Film Director and Producer and Member of Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Brand Ambassador of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Andaman & Nicobar Islands as the Chief Guest. Shri Rajendra Indwar, Deputy Secretary and Member Secretary of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Official Language Department, Secretariat, as the Guest of Honour.
The ceremony was presided over by Shri C. Subba Rao, DDG (E) /Cluster Head and Head of Office, Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra, SVP. Shri Deepak Chandra Tiwari, Assistant Director (Official Language) and Drawing & Disbursing Officer (DDO), Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra, also graced the occasion and played a vital role in the conduct of the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Shri Naresh Chander Lall, Padmashree Awardee spoke about the importance of promoting Hindi and giving greater visibility to the language in various spheres. Recalling his long-standing association with Akashvani, he shared his nostalgic moments and memorable experiences with the organisation ever since this Kendra was inaugurated way back in the year 1963 and highlighted the special bonding he had with Akashvani and encouraged the audience to continue contributing towards the promotion and wider use of Hindi.
The Guest of Honour, Shri Rajendra Indwar, Deputy Secretary in his address, emphasised the need for greater use of Hindi in official work and day-to-day communication. He encouraged the officials and employees to make Hindi as integral part of office functioning and motivated everyone to contribute actively towards the effective implementation of the Official Language policy.
Addressing the gathering, Shri C. Subba Rao, Deputy Director General (Engineering)/Cluster Head and Head of Office, also stressed the importance of making greater use of Hindi in official communication and encouraged the staff members to participate enthusiastically in activities aimed at promoting the language.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Deepak Chandra Tewari, Assistant Director (Official Language) and DDO, who expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Head of Office, officials, employees and all those present for their valuable participation and support in making the inaugural programme a success.
Later, a Self-Composed Hindi Poetry Recitation Competition was organised as part of Hindi Pakhwada 2026. Ms. Sanam, Assistant Director (Programme) & Head of Programme, Doordarshan Kendra participated as the judge for the competition.
The employees of Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. The participants presented their original Hindi poems in a rhythmic and engaging manner, covering a variety of themes and demonstrating their creativity, literary expression and command of the Hindi language.
After the presentations, Kumari Sanam, Assistant Director (Programme)/Head of Programme, addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts and performances of all the participants. She encouraged the employees to continue nurturing their creative abilities and to actively participate in such literary and cultural activities.
The poetry recitation competition concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Deepak Chandra Tiwari, Assistant Director (Official Language) and DDO, who expressed his appreciation to the judges and participants and audience for their enthusiastic participation and cooperation.
The inaugural programme and poetry competition marked an enthusiastic beginning to the Hindi Pakhwada 2026 celebrations at Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra, Sri Vijaya Puram, with a renewed emphasis on promoting the use of Hindi in official work and encouraging greater participation in Hindi-related literary and cultural activities.
