Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 23: The Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC A&N Islands), in collaboration with AYUSH Hospital, organized a Poshan Abhiyaan Parent Training Programme-cum-Awareness Session and an Ayurvedic & Homeopathy Consultation Camp for Divyangjan and their family members at CRC A&N Islands. The awareness session focused on the theme “How Diet Affects Growth, Learning, Mood and Behaviour in Children with Disabilities.” Dr. Santanu Ghoshal, GDMO, Homeopathy, Garacharma, conducted the interactive session and shared practical guidance on balanced nutrition and healthy dietary practices.
The programme also featured a Yoga and Health Session conducted by Mr. Preetham Mandal, Yoga Instructor, who highlighted the importance of yoga, physical activity and healthy lifestyle practices for overall well-being. An Ayurvedic and Homeopathy Consultation Camp was subsequently held, where Dr. Santanu Ghoshal and Dr. Pool Mani, Medical Officer, AYUSH Hospital, provided health consultations and guidance to Divyangjan and their family members.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Sumithamol S., Director, CRC A&N Islands, said that nutrition, physical activity and preventive healthcare play an important role in the overall development and well-being of children with disabilities. She emphasized that empowering parents and caregivers with practical knowledge on nutrition and health can significantly contribute to better care and improved quality of life for Divyangjan.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from children, Divyangjan, parents and caregivers, with a total of 63 participants attending the sessions. The initiative reinforced CRC A&N Islands’ commitment towards promoting inclusive healthcare, nutrition, wellness and holistic development of Divyangjan and their families, while further strengthening collaboration with AYUSH Hospital.
