Mayabunder, Sept. 24: On 23.09.2026, acting on credible information, a police team of Police Station Mayabunder conducted a search at Neemtala, Mayabunder, in connection with the suspected cultivation of illicit ganja plants.
During the search, one ganja plant measuring approximately 82 cm in height was found cultivated in the plantation of the accused. The illicit plant was seized, and the accused was arrested under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is in progress.
North & Middle Andaman District Police remains committed to a zero-tolerance approach towards illicit drug cultivation and trafficking, and will continue to take strict legal action against narcotics-related activities across the district.
The public is urged to share credible information regarding drug-related activities through 112 or the nearest Police Station. The identity of informants will be kept confidential, and suitable rewards will be provided for actionable information.
