Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 24: The Department of B.Tech Civil Engineering, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) organised a Site-cum-Educational Visit to the ALHW Dry Dock to provide students with first-hand exposure to harbour infrastructure and construction practices.
During the visit, Shri D. K. Pandey, DCE, ALHW, conducted an informative on-site practical session on harbour works, with particular emphasis on deep foundations and pile foundations. The students also undertook a guided site visit, gaining valuable insights into construction methodology, execution, safety practices and real-world engineering challenges.
The visit was coordinated by Shri Altamash Mustafa, HOD, B.Tech Civil Engineering, DBRAIT, as part of the Department’s commitment to Outcome-Based Education (OBE), NEP 2020 and experiential learning, enabling students to translate classroom concepts into practical engineering understanding.
The initiative was undertaken with the encouragement and inspiration of Prof. (Dr.) Sanmukh Kaur, Principal, DBRAIT, whose emphasis on experiential, industry-oriented and field-based learning continues to encourage academic initiatives that enhance students’ professional competencies.
The visit provided an effective bridge between classroom learning and professional practice, particularly in the specialised domain of harbour and marine infrastructure, contributing towards the development of technically competent and industry-ready future Civil Engineers.
