TSG Bhasker Demands Special Ship Services to Diglipur During Durga Puja Festival

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 1: The Chairman of the Campaign Committee of ANTCC, Shri. TSG Bhasker has urged the Director of Shipping Services to provide special ship sailings to Diglipur and increase the frequency of existing services during the upcoming Durga Puja festival in the month of October.

In a letter addressed to the Director, Shri. Bhasker pointed out that Durga Puja is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, particularly in the North and Middle Andaman district, and that a large number of islanders travel between Sri Vijaya Puram and Diglipur during the festive period to meet and celebrate with their families and relatives.

He stated that the expected surge in passenger movement during the month of October could put considerable pressure on the existing transport services. He also highlighted that the present road conditions are particularly difficult for elderly persons, patients, tourists and other passengers, making reliable ship connectivity even more important during the festive season.

Shri. Bhasker therefore requested the Director to increase the frequency of sailings to Diglipur throughout October and deploy larger passenger vessels, including MV Bharat Seema and MV Sentinel, to meet the anticipated passenger demand.
