
Mayabunder, Oct. 8: The District-Level Launch Programme of the JOSH (Joint Squad for Health) Teams was organised today in the Conference Hall of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman. The programme focused on strengthening community participation and youth engagement and encouraging local representatives to actively contribute towards public health initiatives. As part of the programme, a pledge for TB Mukt Bharat was administered to all participants, reaffirming their commitment to creating awareness, promoting early detection, supporting treatment adherence and contributing towards the elimination of tuberculosis.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest, Shri R. Alager Swamy, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, North & Middle Andaman, and Shri S. Krishna Chaitanya, Additional District Magistrate, guest of honour, encouraged the participants to actively engage with the community and spread awareness regarding TB prevention, early diagnosis, treatment adherence and the importance of collective action in achieving a TB-free society.
On the occasion, the Pradhans of the TB Mukt Panchayats were felicitated by the chief guest, along with the Additional District Magistrate and the Medical Officer In-charge. Mahatma Gandhi statues in bronze and silver categories were presented to the Panchayats that successfully achieved TB Mukt Panchayat status for the year 2025, in recognition of their achievement and contribution towards TB elimination efforts.
