
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 8: In continuation of the press release dated 01.10.2026 issued by Directorate of IP&T, inviting applications from eligible candidates across the Islands for the International Stand-Up Paddle Instructor Training Programme. Interested candidates have been requested to register on the link before 5 PM on 09.10.2026. Registered Candidates/applicants to be present, along with the documents mentioned below, at the Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Training Centre on 10.10.2026 from 6 AM, where the screening test of all applicants will be conducted. candidates will be selected for the training programme on satisfaction of pre-requisites and merit basis. The selection will be open to eligible applicants from all parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands subject to registration through the given link prior to commencement of the Screening Test.
The training programme will comprise one month of intensive Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) coaching in Sri Vijaya Puram, followed by the International Surfing Association (ISA) Flat Water Stand-Up Paddle Instructor Course, an internationally recognised qualification. The selected candidates will also undergo the ISA/International Life Saving Society (ILS) Surf and SUP Instructor Aquatic Rescue and Safety Course, which provides training in international water safety standards.
The training will be provided free of cost, and all training and certification fees for the Six (06) selected candidates will be fully borne by the Directorate of Tourism. Applicants should be above 18 years of age and must be residents of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Candidates should be confident swimmers, comfortable in the sea, and medically fit to undertake sustained water-based activities. Since the international qualifications are delivered in English, applicants should be able to follow instructions and complete the written assessment in English.
As part of the essential fitness requirement, applicants will have to complete a timed 200-metre swim in under five minutes in a swimming pool of at least 25 metres in length.
Applicants are required to submit their resume/bio-data along with their educational qualifications, certificates of sporting qualifications or achievements, if any, a medical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner, proof of age, and proof of residence in the Islands.
