India’s First and Only Tri-Service Command ‘ANC’ Concludes its Silver Jubilee Celebrations

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 9: The Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC), India’s first and only Tri-Service Command, concluded its Silver Jubilee celebrations, commemorating 25 years of jointness, operational excellence, commitment and dedicated service to the nation. The celebrations, held across the Islands, brought together serving personnel, veterans, families and the local community through a series of military, ceremonial, sporting, welfare and community outreach activities. The events showcased the Command’s enduring ethos of jointness, service before self and its deep-rooted connect with the people of the Islands.

As part of the celebrations, multi-speciality medical camps, educational assistance initiatives and community outreach programmes were conducted across major and remote islands. Assistance was also extended to children through visits to orphanages and welfare initiatives. Sporting events, including the Silver Jubilee Football Championship and ANC Half Marathon, witnessed enthusiastic participation by serving personnel and island residents, fostering fitness, camaraderie and greater community engagement.

The ceremonial events marked significant milestones in the Silver Jubilee celebrations. A solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony at the War Memorial, Brichgunj Military Station, on 5 October, 2026 paid homage to the brave personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation. On 8 October 2026, a Joint Services Parade was conducted at Brichgunj, showcasing the spirit of jointness and the rich military traditions of the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and Indian Coast Guard. The parade was reviewed by the Commander-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command, in the presence of former CINCANs, veterans and distinguished guests. Unit Citations and Appreciation were also presented in recognition of distinguished service and exemplary contributions.

A commemorative First Day Cover marking the Silver Jubilee of the ANC was released, celebrating the Command’s 25-year journey and its significant contributions to the nation’s maritime security. A Strategic Leaders’ Conclave on the theme “Future of ANC as a Strategic Frontier and Maritime Arc of Power” was also conducted, bringing together senior military leadership and distinguished dignitaries to deliberate upon the evolving strategic significance of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and the future role of the Command.

The Silver Jubilee celebrations honoured the proud legacy of all those who have served in the Command over the past 25 years, including the brave personnel who made the supreme sacrifice. The presence of veterans reaffirmed the continuity of service across generations and highlighted the rich heritage and enduring traditions of the ANC.
