Bishnu Pada Ray Expresses Gratitude to Hon’ble Lt. Governor for Prompt Decisions on Long-Pending Issues of Swaraj Dweep

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 9: Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, for taking prompt decisions and issuing directions to address long-pending issues relating to education and healthcare during his visit to Swaraj Dweep today.

During the visit to Government Senior Secondary School, Govind Nagar, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed the concerned authorities to take steps for constructing four additional classrooms, introducing the Commerce stream, repairing government quarters for teachers, providing a room for an Anganwadi centre and constructing a badminton court and arrange a school van or bus for the transportation of students.

During the inspection of the Primary Health Centre, Govind Nagar, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor enquired about the well-being of patients and reviewed the availability of medicines, medical facilities, the proposed Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra and the staff position.

Considering the healthcare needs of local residents and visiting tourists, he directed the Health Department to take urgent steps to upgrade the PHC to a Community Health Centre (CHC), install an automatic analyser machine capable of conducting 40 tests, repair the X-ray machine immediately, provide Wi-Fi facilities, make the DG set operational, which had remained non-functional for the past two years and construct 10 additional rooms for doctors and other healthcare staff. He also directed the authorities to initiate the process for establishing an Operation Theatre and recruiting specialist doctors to improve healthcare services on the island.

Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, who accompanied the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor during the visit to Swaraj Dweep, highly appreciated his prompt decisions, close monitoring and directions to address the long-pending issues of the islanders. He expressed confidence that these measures would improve educational infrastructure and healthcare facilities in Swaraj Dweep.

The Hon’ble MP thanked the Lieutenant Governor for his positive approach and efforts to improve basic facilities and public services for the people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
