Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 4: Bringing pride and recognition to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, chess player Ms. R. Kashthuri Bhai delivered an impressive performance at the 24th Cap Town – Cavalier Chess Tournament (Category B: 2050–1650) held at Cap d’Agde, France.
Competing against a strong field of 258 participants, Kashthuri Bhai secured an outstanding 8th position in the overall main prize category. She also achieved a remarkable 2nd position in the Best Women category, winning a cash prize of €200.
The tournament comprised nine rounds, in which she demonstrated excellent skill, determination and consistency, scoring an impressive 7 points out of 9, with 6 wins, 2 draws and only 1 loss.
Her achievement at this international chess event is a proud moment for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and reflects the growing talent and competitive spirit of chess players from the islands on the international stage.
