Local BJP holds ‘Save Democracy’ Padayatra, Accuses Cong of Destabilising the Country

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 5: The BJP on Thursday took out a ‘Save Democracy, Eradicate Anarchy’ padayatra at Sri Vijaya Puram, accusing the Congress of “politicising the SIR of electoral rolls and misleading youngsters to provoke confrontation.”

Carrying BJP flags & national flags, the grand foot march began at 4.00 pm from BJP Bhavan at Middle Point. More than 2800 people participated in this Padayatra.

BJP State President Shri Anil Kumar Tiwari, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Shri Krishna Kanta Saha, MLA from West Bengal, Shri Sher Singh, Convenor of the padayatra program, all state office bearers, Councillors, PRI members were among those who participated in the march.

Smti K. Chellamma, and Shri Naresh Chandra Lal, Padma Shree awardees were among the prominent personalities among the participants.

The march is part of the BJP’s campaign across nation aimed at countering the opposition INDIA bloc’s narrative against the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre. A Public meeting was organised at Tiranga Park following the foot march, where the Padayatra ended.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Anil Kumar Tiwari, alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was unable to accept Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s continued popularity and was attempting to destabilise the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

Referring to Gandhi’s remarks on ‘regime change’, Shri Tiwari claimed that the opposition was seeking to remove a government that had received a democratic mandate.

“Rahul Gandhi is frustrated. Time and again, in the Lok Sabha elections, the people of this country, particularly its politically aware voters, have blessed Narendra Modi. Rahul Gandhi is unable to tolerate this. That is why they are staging protests every day at Jantar Mantar. They are trying to create an atmosphere of anarchy across the country,” he said.

Shri Tiwari said the Congress was opposing the SIR exercise despite voter-list revisions having been carried out several times across the country.

“The Congress has no faith in the SIR process. It has no faith in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). It does not even have faith in the Supreme Court. The party is creating doubts about constitutional institutions,” he alleged.

Referring to recent protests in New Delhi, Shri Tiwari alleged that certain elements were attempting to create unrest in India, similar to incidents in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and France. He claimed that these forces were seeking to remove the BJP from power despite its electoral mandate.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble MP, targeted the Congress government prior to 2014 in the country, accusing it of unbearable corruption and raising prices, which he said had made life difficult for poor and ordinary people. He also listed out the good works done during the NDA regime under Modi ji in the Islands.

Shri Sher Singh, State Vice President, alleged that the Congress Governments have always been anti-farmer, anti-poor and anti-people, he called upon party workers to work towards making the Congress Mukt Islands in the forthcoming local body elections in 2027.

He said the ‘Save Democracy, Eradicate Anarchy’ padayatra was being organised to create awareness among people to explain the facts over the false narrative on Vote Chori, SIR voter deletion and on EVM.

Shri Singh expressed confidence that the BJP will capture all the local body seats during the 2027 Panchayati and Municipal Elections.
