
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 14: As part of on-going series of fairs & festival & events, the Department of Tourism, is all set to celebrate the Spice Festival – 2025 on 16th July, 2025 with the aim to promote the culinary, medicinal, and cultural significance of spices grown in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands while offering visitors an immersive agro-tourism experience. It is designed to attract both domestic and international tourists through a vibrant blend of culture, cuisine, and agro-based activities. As part of the festival, participants will embark on guided tours of major spice hubs across the Islands. These include visits to the renowned farm of Padma Shri Kamachi Chellammal (Nariyal Amma) at Rangachang, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (KVK-CIARI) at Sippighat, and the organic farm of Junglee Mirchi Resort at Caddlegunj.
The program itinerary features:
➤ Plantation tours and hands-on spice harvesting experiences
➤ Live demonstrations on spice processing and packaging techniques
➤ Curated culinary sessions showcasing the use of locally grown spices intraditional recipes.
The Department of Tourism has arranged a dedicated bus service for above routes on 16th July, 2025 for half day, which will depart from the Directorate of IP&T at sharp 08:30 am. The Department invites, tourists, interested stakeholders, Tourist Guide trainees, students from Tourism field to join us in celebrating the Islands spice legacy and promoting agro-tourism as a sustainable tourism model.
