AH&VS in Collaboration with Agriculture Department Conducts Hands on Training on Natural Farming Components

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 15: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), in collaboration with the Agriculture Department, conducted a hands-on training and demonstration program on the preparation of natural farming components at Ferrargunj on July 14, 2025. The initiative aimed to promote sustainable farming practices and enhance agricultural productivity in the region.

The program was graced by Smti. Padmawati, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Ferrargunj, as the chief guest, with Shri. A. Rajan, Panchayat Samiti member, and other Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) members of Gram Panchayat Ferrargunj in attendance.

Dr. Satish Kumar, Senior Veterinary Officer (SVO), explained the principles of natural farming and detailed the preparation procedures for Jeevamrut and Neemastra. Dr. Sunita Roy, SVO, highlighted the Department’s initiatives to promote natural farming. Dr. Subhash B. Palve, SVO, urged farmers to rear at least one cow or buffalo to meet household milk needs. Shri. Ravi Sutradhar, Agriculture Officer, elaborated on the ingredients and methods for preparing Neemastra and Jeevamrut.

The program concluded with a demonstration on the preparation of Jeevamrut and Neemastra. Each farmer received 2 litres of Jeevamrut prepared at the Livestock Farm Complex, Dollygunj, and the Agriculture Department distributed Neemastra to all participants. Farmers actively engaged, raising queries that were addressed during the session. Smti. Padmawati commended the joint effort of the Departments, noting its relevance, and encouraged participants to adopt natural farming practices. She also requested more such training programs in other Panchayats.
