
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 16: In commemoration of World No Tobacco Day, the National Tobacco Control Programme organized a Poster Making and Essay Writing Competition on May 31, 2025. The event drew participation from every age group across the region, emphasizing the importance of tobacco control and awareness.
In Poster Making Competition, the first prize was bagged by Amar Biswas (28 yrs), second prize by L Lishma Shann Mathew (27 yrs) and third Prize by Saamvee Kaligithi (12 yrs). The consolation prize winners were Nandini Mistry (23 yrs) & K Shruti (18 yrs).
In Essay Writing Competition Diya Bawali (20 yrs) won the first prize, while the second prize was bagged by Samira Banu (31 yrs) and the third prize went to Prajakta Roy (17 yrs). B Sirisha (18 yrs) and Shaheen Begum (31 yrs) were awarded the consolation prizes.
The competitions aimed to promote awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and encourage a healthier, tobacco-free future. The theme for this year was ‘Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference’. The winners were selected based on their creativity, message clarity, and overall impact. A prize money of Rs.3000 for the 1st prize, Rs.2000 for the 2nd prize, Rs.1500 for the 3rd prize, and two consolation prizes of Rs. 500 each will be awarded to the winners.
