Sri Vijaya Puram, July 20: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women under the Directorate of Social Welfare conducted an awareness program on Gender Sensitization, with the aim to educate teenagers about gender and stereotypes related to gender.
The program was conducted at Government Secondary School, Junglighat today. During the program, Smti. P. Deepa Laxmi, Gender Specialist, SHEW educated the participants about child marriage, sex, gender and ways to create an inclusive environment for third gender.
Smti Hemlatha, Gender Specialist, SHEW addressed the participants regarding Dowry Act, gender stereotypes, and gender roles and encouraged integrating gender sensitization into educational curriculums to shape young minds towards equality and respect.
