Sri Vijaya Puram, July 23: A comprehensive Capacity Building Training Programme on the National Pension System (NPS) and Unified Pension System (UPS) was organized today at the auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Sri Vijaya Puram by Chief Pay And Accounts Office (CPAO) in collaboration with Protean eGov Technologies Ltd, Mumbai – the central record keeping agency for NPS/UPS . The programme witnessed the participation of nearly 200 participants comprising of NPS Nodal Officers, including Pay and Accounts Officers (PAOs), Sub-PAOs, CDDOs of Forest and APWD, DDOs and Dealing Staff from various Departments and autonomous bodies of the A&N Administration.
The programme was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Shri S. Dasgupta, Director of Accounts & Budget, A&N Administration, alongwith the Resource Person, Shri Ramesh Kumar, Senior Lead from Protean eGov Technologies Ltd in the presence of senior officers from the CPAO.
The programme commenced with welcome address by Shri M. Mohammed Ashraf, Senior Accounts Officer, Chief Pay and Accounts Office (CPAO), who highlighted the proactive role being played by CPAO in organizing such training initiatives, aimed at equipping nodal officers with up-to-date knowledge and tools to manage NPS and UPS responsibilities effectively.
In his inaugural address, Shri S. Dasgupta informed that the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, in line with the rest of the country, has not only implemented NPS effectively but is also actively extending all required services to the NPS subscribers under the A&N Administration. The Principal Accounts Office under A&N Administration has been among the first few to successfully implement the Online PRAN Generation Module (OPGM) under various Nodal Offices during June, 2020 with the guidance and support from the CRA-NSDL, Mumbai, that helped to expedite the process of PRAN generation. Further, the Principal Accounts Office, A&N Administration was also appreciated for accomplishment of remarkable credit coverage under NPS during 2024 by the Protean eGov Technologies Ltd. As of now, A&N Administration has a subscriber base of 15,292 NPS and 489 UPS subscribers.
The technical session was led by Shri Ramesh Kumar, Senior Lead from Protean eGov Technologies Ltd., the Central Recordkeeping Agency (CRA) for NPS.
As a follow-up to today’s event, a Subscriber Awareness Programme is scheduled to be held tomorrow in two batches (morning and afternoon), targeting around 400 NPS and UPS subscribers with the objective of enhancing their understanding of pension planning, system features and their rights and options under the evolving pension framework.
