DHS Organises ‘Pariwar Vikas Mela’ at Chouldari as Part of World Population Month

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 24: As a part of World Population month observance, a ‘Pariwar Vikas Mela’ was organised by Directorate of Health Services in association with UT Health Mission at Community Hall Chouldhari under the jurisdiction of PHC Chouldhari today. The event was graced by the Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services, A&N Administration as the chief guest. She emphasised on the importance of right age for marriage, prohibition of child marriage act, awareness about the POCSO among the school students and various methods of family planning.  In his address, Dr. H.M Siddaraju, Deputy Director (FW) highlighted the slogan – “Maa Banne Ki Umar Wahi, Jab Tan Aur Man Ki Tayyari Sahi”. Various Family Planning methods, balanced and nutritive diet, cheap & easy available vegetables, fruits for women and children were demonstrated. Different posters on Family Planning methods and Family Welfare Programmes were also displayed.  Earlier, the programme started with welcome address by Dr. Smita Narayan, Medical Officer (Homeo), PHC Chouldhari. A Quiz competition was conducted among Anganwadi Workers and were awarded by Cash Prizes. A Skit was also performed by intern doctors of PHC Chouldhari on importance of healthy spacing between pregnancies and benefits of small family.
